SUMMARY:
Our client is currently seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician. The Lead (I&E) Technician's duties include working with process engineers to develop construction schedules and design data for instrumentation and electrical equipment required for new capital projects. This includes leading a team of 3-5 other I&E Technicians in the development of project data and coordinating their activities with process/project engineers and I&E designers. The Lead (I&E) Technician will also direct the start-up of instrumentation and electrical equipment for chemical processes in the plant and maintain all design, purchase, and calibration documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Project/Process Engineers to size and specify instrumentation for chemical processes (flow meters, RTDs, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, load cells, etc.).
- Work with Project/Process Engineers to develop and maintain DCS and PLC control logic for chemical processes.
- Commissioning of instrumentation and control system equipment.
- Communicate with plant operations for control system optimization and process improvement.
- Start-up of instrumentation and electrical equipment for chemical processes.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshoot on existing instrumentation, control systems, networks, and electrical equipment on an as needed basis
- Maintain documentation and calibration records for instrumentation and control systems.
- Ensure that potential safety and environmental issues related to projects are considered at all stages of the startup, shutdown, and continuous operations of the process equipment.
- Electrical construction oversight.
- Handles complex projects, issues, and problems. Refers the most complex issues to higher level staff.
- Perform work under minimal supervision
- Review and approve weekly time entered by all employees in CATS (SAP Time Tracking)
- Provide employee management and performance feedback using performance management tools
- Provides mentoring as a lead to less experienced employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in a technical role within the process industry.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Solid working knowledge of chemical control systems.
- Specification of instrumentation for processes handling flammable liquids, combustible liquids, or solids.
- Yokogawa DCS 3000 control system experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstration of strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with Aveva and/or Smartplant Intools a plus but not required.
